Andre Castaybert Attends Art Law Day at the 2014 National Conference of the Appraisers Association of America

November 7, 2014 –  Andre Castaybert attended the Seminars at Art Law Day co-produced by the Appraisers Association of America and NYU School of Professional Studies.  The keynote speaker, Judith Bresler, provided an overview of the new legislation for authentication Experts.   Several government representatives were part of the panel explaining the changing laws for the sale of endangered species.  Another panel that included Monica Dugot, the international director of restitution at christie’s and Marianne Rosenberg, the grandaughter of collector and gallerist, Paul Rosenberg who reviewed current issues and developments in the area of restitution.  The afternoon panels covered the technical aspects of IRS/1031 Tax Free Exchanges and a lively overview of the developments in the Detroit bankruptcy and Detroit Institute of Arts, featuring Ford Bell, President and CEO of the the American alliance of Museums and former director of the DIA and Richard Levin of Cravath who played a significant role in connection with the bankruptcy deal that saved the museum and its artwork for the city of Detroit.

The Appraisers Association of America, established in 1949, is the premier national association of personal property appraisers serving the arts, legal, and financial communities, as well as the general public.
